Dani Graves (they/them) is a non-binary artist who is best known for their photography that often captures the beauty in the forgotten and decaying spaces many of us pass by without noticing.
I grew up in a typical northern mill town with an abundance of abandoned mills and buildings that seem to have been long forgotten. I quite often found myself exploring these spaces that were so quiet, it almost felt like I was in another world entirely. It was from here that my passion for photography took place. I bought myself a cheap little point-and-shoot camera, and I tried to capture this world that I was seeing, and it feels like a camera was rarely not in my hands.
In my late teensĀ I started taking this a little more seriously and borrowed books from the library to learn about different techniques and to get inspiration from other people's work.
These days I find myself quite happily living in the Upper Calder Valley in a lovely rural town that is full of industrial heritage. My photography has also expanded into other disciplinesĀ as I continue to capture the adventures I find myself having.
